Statement of ACAP CEO Margaret A. Murray on Midterm Elections

WASHINGTON — ACAP CEO Margaret A. Murray issued the following statement following yesterday’s midterm elections:

“Yesterday’s election was a clear call for change.

“For millions of families, health coverage is where change can’t wait.

“The nearly $1 trillion in federal Medicaid cuts over the next decade and the red tape embedded in H.R. 1 threaten to take coverage away from millions of Americans. The new Congress should take decisive steps to preserve Medicaid funding and health coverage for people who are now at risk of losing it due to these provisions.

“Families are also feeling the consequences of Congress’s failure to renew the enhanced premium tax credits. Owing to this inaction, people who rely on the Marketplace for health coverage are seeing the highest premium costs since 2021. These credits worked, and they should be restored.

“As ever, ACAP is ready to work with all members of the House and Senate in the 120^th Congress — just as we are in the 119^th — to protect access to affordable coverage and care for the people and communities that our member Safety Net Health Plans serve.”
