As part of its commitment to serving vulnerable populations, ACAP recognizes people and organizations that strive to improve the health of Medicaid enrollees and others with low incomes.

The annual Making a Difference award is presented to an employee of an ACAP plan whose work goes beyond the norm and whose services exemplify the ACAP principles of Advocacy, Care, Access, and Public Good.

ACAP’s Leadership in Advocacy award recognizes an individual who clearly exceeds the norm in advocating for Medicaid and other safety net health programs, and on behalf of the vulnerable populations that these programs serve.

The annual Supporting the Safety Net award is presented to a community-based organization (CHC, hospital, community provider, etc.) or individual whose work goes beyond the norm and whose services are recognized as best practices that stand as a model for replication in the safety net environment.

The Sylvia B. Kelly Medical Scholarship for Health Equity offers one $25,000 award to support a medical student who has a demonstrated interest in promoting health equity through reducing the Black maternal mortality gap.
