ACAP Testimony: Senate Finance Committee Hearing on Rising Health Care Costs

On Nov. 19, the Senate Finance Committee held a hearing on the rising costs of health care nationwide. ACAP CEO Margaret A. Murray submitted testimony for the record, explaining that extending the enhanced premium tax credits (ePTCs) would be a huge step towards keeping quality health care accessible and affordable for the country’s most vulnerable populations.

“It is well documented that the ePTCs enable workers and families who lack access to affordable, employer-sponsored coverage to purchase affordable private insurance coverage,” Murray said.

“Without ePTCs, many consumers, faced with higher net premiums, may be forced to drop coverage. We appreciate the Committee’s attention to rising health care costs in today’s hearing and urge the Committee members to take action to extend the enhanced premium tax credits as soon as possible.”
