ACAP Joins National Health Care for the Homeless Council in Urging Senate to Reject Reconciliation Bill

On June 9, ACAP joined the National Health Care for the Homeless Council and 107 other organizations in a letter urging Senate leadership to reject (H.R. 1), the House-passed reconciliation bill.

The letter highlights Medicaid’s vital role in helping people experiencing homelessness access the care they need to manage their health, seek housing, work, and pursue education. It also supports providers by reducing uncompensated care and improving financial stability.

The bill threatens Medicaid coverage and undermines federal goals to reduce homelessness, expand substance use treatment, and improve health care access. Instead, it adds red tape that would make it even harder for unhoused people to keep coverage.
