ACAP Responds to OMB’s Request for Information on Deregulation in Medicaid

On May 12, ACAP submitted its comments to Russell Vought, Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), in response to OMB’s Request for Information on deregulation.

The letter shares support for regulations that ensure quality, safety, and fairness for Medicaid health plans, while also calling for flexibility in implementing access and interoperability standards. It also raises concerns about unrealistic appointment wait time requirements, proposes preserving state flexibility on state-directed payments, and advocates for a phased, data-driven approach to new interoperability rules.

The letter emphasizes the need for practical timelines, financial support, and recognition of current workforce and provider constraints.
