ACAP Names Beam, Nelson to Board of Directors

ACAP NAMES BEAM, NELSON TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS
WASHINGTON — The Association for Community Affiliated Plans (ACAP) announced that Adam Beam, Vice President for Corporate Development at CareSource, and Sonya Nelson, Regional President at AmeriHealth Caritas, have been added as corporate members to the Association’s Board of Directors. ACAP’s Board of Directors serves to provide strategic oversight of the organization’s day-to-day activities.
A seasoned managed care executive, Adam Beam brings nearly two decades of experience across the public and private sectors. Beam previously served as Vice President of Regional Business Development for CareSource, where he led innovative strategies to extend the organization’s mission. His career includes leadership roles at One Call, Lucina Health, and Humana. A U.S. military veteran, Beam is committed to expanding access to quality health care.
Sonya Nelson brings more than 36 years delivering government-sponsored managed care solutions in Medicaid, Medicare, Medicare Advantage, LTSS and Child Welfare/Foster Care populations. She is the former Regional President for CVS/Aetna Medicaid and previous CEO of WellCare of Georgia. Sonya has focused on transformational strategies throughout her career. She is passionate about enhancing the quality and affordability of health care.
“Sonya and Adam bring perspectives to our Board that will help sharpen the response of Safety Net Health Plans to the changes all of us will soon see in the Medicaid program,” said ACAP CEO Margaret A. Murray. “We’re lucky to have them on the Board and I look forward to their sharing their points of view with our staff and fellow Safety Net Health Plans alike.”
