ACAP Comments on Recommendations for Improving the Medicaid and CHIP Child and Adult Core Sets of Quality Measures

On May 3, ACAP submitted a letter on the proposed recommendations for changes to the 2026 Child and Adult Core Sets.

The letter shares support for the removal of the Use of Opioids at High Dosage in Persons Without Cancer measure, and provides expanded comments on the proposed addition of the Prenatal Depression Screening and Follow-Up measure. While this measure aligns with public health priorities, ACAP-members noted anticipated challenges plans could face, including:

  • lack of data sharing if providers or settings are not a part of the health plan’s network
  • insufficient behavioral health workforce to conduct the follow-up care required within 30 days of a positive screening
