WASHINGTON and BATON ROUGE, La.—AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana, a Healthy Louisiana Medicaid managed care plan, has recently joined the Association for Community Affiliated Plans (ACAP). AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana is the only Louisiana Medicaid plan to belong to the organization.

ACAP represents 60 community-based safety net health plans which serve more than 20 million enrollees in aggregate.

AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana serves more than 210,000 members across Louisiana. Among its innovative programs are Bright Start®, an initiative to encourage healthy deliveries of newborn babies; and On the Move, a series of programs which provide a fun way for adults and children to increase their physical activity.

“We’re always looking for ways to improve the experience of our Healthy Louisiana membership,” said Kyle Viator, Market President for AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana. “One of the strengths of ACAP is its capacity for sharing best practices among its membership. We look forward to learning from our fellow safety net health plans, and we have some highly successful programs to bring to the discussion as well.”

“AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana stands out as a plan that adds value for its members,” said ACAP CEO Margaret A. Murray. “And operating in Louisiana, the state that most recently expanded its Medicaid program, it has direct experience with the benefits of Medicaid expansion. We look forward to sharing the experiences of AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana with our members in 2017 and beyond.”
