STATEMENT OF ACAP ON THE PASSAGE
OF THE AMERICAN HEALTH CARE ACT IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
WASHINGTON—Margaret A. Murray, CEO of the Association for Community Affiliated Plans (ACAP), made the following statement on the passage of the American Health Care Act in the House of Representatives:
“While we are disappointed that the House has passed H.R.1628, ACAP reiterates our willingness to engage in productive, bipartisan conversations around health care system reform.
“We acknowledge that opportunities for improving the health care system are all around us—better integration of care for low-income seniors and the disabled, improving the reliability and quality of Medicaid coverage, and expanding opportunities to delivery care coordination services to the privately insured. Unfortunately, the American Health Care Act is the wrong prescription to address those concerns.
“As this legislation moves to the Senate, ACAP urges Senators to hit the restart button on the debate by developing a different approach, seeking input from key health system stakeholders and bipartisan solutions to improve the health care system so that it works for all Americans. We’re ready to work with the Senate in such a fashion moving forward.”
