ACAP Writes to CMCS Over Importance of Actuarial Soundness, Best Practices for Rate Setting
On May 12, ACAP submitted a letter to Deputy CMCS Administrator and Director Dan Brillman, detailing the importance of actuarial soundness and highlighting regulatory and subregulatory opportunities for the agency to strengthen oversight of the Medicaid MCO rate setting process.
In the letter, ACAP notes lessons learned from the Public Health Emergency unwinding, as well as likely difficulties from upcoming policy changes. The letter emphasizes that transparency and collaboration will be critical to ensure the viability of Safety Net Health Plans and ensure access and stability for the hard-working Americans who depend on them for the care they need and deserve.
