Medical Director

Health Plan of San Joaquin (HPSJ) seeks a mission-oriented physician leader to serve as its Medical Director. HPSI is a strong not-for-profit managed care plan serving the Medi-Cal beneficiaries of the Central Valley since 1996. HPSI has experienced extraordinary growth during the past 6 years nearly doubling in size from 180,000 to 350,000 members. Because of this growth they’re seeking a strong Medical Director to join their medical manageent leadership team.

HPSJ is the health plan of choice in San Joaquin County . It has strong quality metrics that continue to improve each year. Further, HPSJ has a well designed infrastructure and a talented medical management leadership team. The Plan members benefit from exceptional pallative care, transition of care, and integrated behavioral health programs.

Reporting to the CMO, the Medical Director will provide clinical oversight for resource utilization, quality, pharmacy and credentialling that ensures delivery of quality, cost effetive healthcare, supports organization objectives, and meets contractual and regluatory requirments. She/he will have the opportunity to have closer provider and member relationships than is true of large plans, and will be active with community agencies and other resource providers.

The ideal candidate will be a board certified physician, M.D. or D.O., with a strong clinical background and a current California license or ability to obtain one. Prior health plan experience overseeing medical management functions in a Medi-Cal or Medicaid environment is ideal. A track record of successful supervisory experience in a healthcare environment is preferred. Experience working closely and collaboratively with providers and health systems, with particular expertise in working with low-income populations. Must have a visible, engaging leadership style.
