Manager, Operational Controls

Geisinger Health Plan, part of Geisinger Health, one of the nation’s largest health services organizations known for reinventing healthcare, is seeking a Manager, Operational Controls to join our Financial Reporting and Operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for development and ongoing compliance with documented internal control framework through developing and implementing new processes to positively effect operational efficiency and compliance.

Duties / Responsibilities include:
-Develop and/or coordinates the execution of all Model Audit Rule (MAR) requirements. Develop internal control procedures, and compliance reporting plans.

-Consider the relevant and emerging risks facing GHP business activities and their impacts on internal controls. Assess the impact of changes on the scope and strategy of the department and company.

-Develop monitoring mechanisms to ensures that all operational areas within the business follow the MAR, Service Organization Controls (SOC) and other documented policies and procedures.

-Evaluate reports and findings with management and staff of all affected departments. Assist Senior Leadership in developing corrective action plans and reports of audit and control activity to governance committees and Boards.

-Coordinate control activity, monitoring, audit results, control design, and remediation with Finance and IT.

-Lead or participate on inter- and intra-departmental teams in adapting to new products, software, contracts, and other new procedures.

-Monitor operational metrics for compliance with regulations, performance guarantees, and efficiency targets.

-Work with staff to continually improve accuracy and efficiency of operating procedures.

-Analyze monthly operational metrics and results and advises management regarding related to operational effectiveness and compliance.

Education / Experience:
-Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Management or related field required.
-Advanced degree or certification preferred.
-A minimum of seven years accounting or internal control experience required, two years of internal audit or public accounting experience preferred. Health insurance experience preferred.
