Job Summary
The IS Business Intelligence Supervisor oversees the daily activities of the Business Intelligence Analyst team to proactively support and inform decision-making by end users. The position works with other departments to identify opportunities, substantiate justifications and oversee the building of data products. The position facilitates close collaboration between the Business Intelligence team and Healthcare Analysts, data warehousing staff and other subject matter experts. The position is also responsible for creating and grooming work backlog, as well as implementing and overseeing agile methodology.

Education and/or Experience
Required:
Minimum 2 years’ experience in Business Intelligence Analytics or related role
Minimum 1 year experience in a supervisory or lead position; lead roles should include regular assistance to a manager or supervisor in staff hiring, coaching, performance evaluation, and other supervisory tasks
Preferred:
Experience implementing Agile practices for a BI team
Experience with Healthcare and/or insurance

Essential Responsibilities
Employee Supervision
Supervise team and recommend team direction and goals in alignment with the organizational mission, vision, and values.
Identify work and staffing needs to meet work expectations; recruit and hire, using an equity, diversity, and inclusion lens.
Plan, organize, schedule, and monitor work; ensure employees have information and resources to meet job expectations.
Lead the development, communication, and oversight of team and individual goals; ensure goals, expectations, and standards are clearly understood by staff.
Train, supervise, motivate, and coach employees; provide support toward employee development.
Incorporate guidance from CareOregon equity tools into people leadership, planning, operations, evaluation, and decision making.
Ensure team adheres to department and organizational standards, policies, and procedures.
Evaluate employee performance and provide regular feedback to support success; recognize strong performance and address performance gaps and accountability (corrective action).
Performs supervisory tasks in collaboration with Human Resources as needed.

Technical Supervision
Create and maintain standards for data product development, including standards for visual dashboards, data pipeline automation, etc.
Provide appropriate subject matter and domain expertise.
Recommend strategies and develop approaches for building cohesive and reusable analytics solutions.
Advise team on analytic methods including statistical analyses and reporting formats for results.
Guide the development, maintenance, quality assurance, and documentation for data products.
Collaborate with internal and external customers to identify, refine and deliver data products tailored to the customer needs and specifications.
Incorporate best practices from the industry into team’s operations.
Remain current with technology, latest analytical methods and maintain willingness to learn new skills.

Project Management and Participation
Plan, organize, manage and monitor projects; act as project manager when needed.
Perform business needs analysis and develop functional requirements for software as needed.
Facilitate various analytic workgroups with cross-functional membership.
Contribute and actively participate in community of practice to improve skills and capabilities of all Analysts at CareOregon.

Relationship Management
Manage stakeholders, cross-functional team relationships and set appropriate expectations; manage team commitments to stakeholders.
Establish and maintain cooperative and productive working relationships with internal and external customers.
Work collaboratively across departments to resolve complex system and/or problems as needed.

Compliance
Ensure compliance with internal auditing, HIPAA and other applicable state and federal regulations.
Ensure project deliverables are met according to quality control schedules and standards.

Skill in delivering automated data pipelines and touch free analysis
Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies
Knowledge of Tableau Desktop/Creator products and SQL
Knowledge of statistical software packages, such as SAS, R, Python, etc.
Knowledge of general-purpose programming language such as Python, PowerShell, etc.
Understanding of the functions of the business analytics unit work and how these relate to other department teams and to the larger organization.
