Job Summary
The Healthcare Analyst Supervisor oversees daily activities of a data science and business analytics team. Areas of focus include the analysis of health outcomes, quality of care, financial analysis, and/or health care utilization studies. This involves performing statistical analysis using analytical tools, assisting in developing long-term plans that will meet the analytical needs of the organization, and assisting leadership in interpreting various provider opportunities and proposals. The role is responsible for identifying, estimating, tracking and reporting on projects and service requests assigned to the team, as well as supervising and developing employees, managing workloads, and improving processes.

Education and/or Experience
Minimum 5 years’ experience analyzing health insurance, medical or pharmacy claims, and/or related data
Minimum 1 year experience in a supervisory or lead position; lead roles should include regular assistance to a manager or supervisor in staff hiring, coaching, performance evaluation, and other supervisory tasks
Experience planning and leading complex analysis, reporting and/or research projects
Experience guiding, coordinating and collaborating with internal customer teams
Experience with Medicaid and Medicare

Essential Responsibilities
Technical Supervision
Develop analytical plans and lead the analyses of health outcomes, quality of care, health care utilization, cost trends and forecasting.
Develop and implement research methods, including plans for statistical analysis and report/results formatting.
Continually grow and apply strong knowledge of the financial dynamics of the health-care industry.
Advise management about the relative cost and utilization outcomes from payment scenarios.
Analyze administrative and research data and assess its quality, validity and reliability.
Use statistical analysis software to retrieve, edit and tabulate data from various databases and files.
Gather information through the analysis of tables, graphs, charts and other statistics and report results in a variety of formats.
Interpret reports such as statistical studies, narrative reports, articles for publication and summarize findings by explaining the significance of trends.
Assist with, prepare and/or deliver presentations to, community groups, regulatory agencies, leadership and other teams as needed.
Collaborate with internal and external customers to identify, refine and deliver data products tailored to the customer needs and specifications.
Collaborate with the department manager and staff in planning, designing, and implementing new data systems.
Identify and incorporate best practices for the business unit.

Evaluate employee performance and provide regular feedback to support success; recognize strong performance and address performance gaps and accountability (corrective action).
Perform supervisory tasks in collaboration with Human Resources as needed.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of statistical software packages, such as SAS, R, and/or Python
Knowledge of financial matters in the health care industry
Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Ability to independently gather, compile and analyze data using statistical methods
Ability to manipulate and analyze statistical data
Excellent spoken and written communication skills
Ability to prepare and present information in narrative and statistical reports formats
Ability to effectively present and convey complex information to internal and external stakeholder
Ability to provide leadership and oversight of analytical projects
Ability to manage the workloads of others and motivate staff to perform at their highest level
Understanding of the business analytics function and how the work relates to other departments, especially the information systems department, and to the larger organization.

Excellent customer service skills
Knowledge of basic concepts of Managed Care and Medicare/Medicaid Programs preferred
Knowledge of Agile development processes preferred
