Communications Manager
The Association for Community Affiliated Plans (ACAP) seeks a Communications Manager to deliver communications and research products and help execute advocacy strategy related to Medicaid, CHIP, Marketplace Qualified Health Plans, and Medicare that serve people with low incomes or significant health need.

The Communications Manager position requires top-notch verbal, organizational, writing and interpersonal skills, and the ability to perform independently in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate must be able to customarily exercise judgment and discretion and be able to creatively apply their expertise to translate advocacy and research materials to communications products that speak to a wide array of audiences.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The responsibilities of the Communications Manager include:
• Develop, oversee and disseminate public-facing ACAP communications products, including its newsletter.
• Manage, track and analyze performance on key communications metrics, including Web visitation, e-mail campaigns, and social media products.
• Perform routine media surveillance.
• Manage and maintain ACAP’s Web site in collaboration with other staff; create content that aligns with ACAP’s strategic goals.
• Direct and implement ACAP’s online social media strategy.
• Produce the ACAP Coffee Break podcast and select video products.
• Develop, design, and disseminate member-facing ACAP resources.
• Support senior executives in development of presentations.
• Oversee and execute ACAP scholarship award program.
• Respond to member inquiries and addressing member concerns.
• Provide editorial support as needed to staff.
• Communicate effectively and frequently with colleagues and members.
• Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
Competitive candidates must possess a college degree, a demonstrable interest in health care policy, and fluency in Microsoft Office products. The ideal candidate will have a background in communications or journalism; 4-6 years’ relevant work experience preferred. Knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, the Affordable Care Act, and prior work or internships in health policy organizations or associations are all pluses.
Successful candidates will demonstrate facility with social media platform management and e-mail marketing platforms, highly polished writing, interpersonal, and communications skills, and innate intellectual curiosity.
Demonstrable multimedia production experience will be favorably regarded.

ACAP represents 78 not-for-profit Safety Net Health Plans, which collectively serve more than 25 million people enrolled in Medicaid, Medicare, the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and other public health programs. ACAP’s mission is to strengthen not-for-profit safety net health plans in their work to improve the health and well-being of lower-income and vulnerable populations.
SALARY AND COMPENSATION — The salary range is commensurate with work experience and educational level. A competitive benefit package is offered. The position may allow for a mix of remote and in-office work.

Location: The position is located in Washington, D.C. Occasional travel (less than 10%) required. The position may allow for a mixture of in-office and remote work.
