Associate General Counsel – PCHP

Serves as a dedicated attorney assigned to the Parkland Community Health Plan (PCHP) by providing legal advice about various corporate issues, drafting and negotiating professional services agreements between PCHP and its business partners, and assisting with regulatory compliance and all legal aspects of managed care operations. Provides counsel on general business issues.

1. Negotiates, drafts, and interprets a wide variety of contracts for managed care providers, behavioral health, vision care and pharmacy benefits, vendors and other agreements in such a manner as to obtain terms and conditions that are favorable for the PCHP organization.
2. Provides counsel to internal PCHP teams on legal matters impacting their contracts and areas of responsibility.
3. Coordinates with specialists regarding regulatory, employment, privacy, litigation, security and technology matters.
4. Drafts standard agreements to update existing or add new product/service offerings.
5. Works with organization’s privacy and security personnel to ensure that patient information gathered by the organization is collected, stored and used in compliance with privacy policies and applicable laws.
6. Handles a wide variety of corporate legal matters as they arise.
7. Assists with contract approval process including submission of required forms and confirmation of approvals.
8. Assists General Counsel or other Parkland attorneys with other legal matters for Parkland as needed.
9. Other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements

Graduate from an Accredited Law School.

Required Certifications / Licensure
• Must have a current Texas State Bar Association license; OR, must pursue “Admission without Examination” as outlined based on reciprocity as outlined by the most recent standards established by the Texas State Bar Association resulting in receipt of a Texas State Bar Association license within 9 months of hire date.
• Must be in good standing with the Texas Bar Association or an equivalent state bar association.
