ACAP LAUNCHES “CHIP IS US” DIGITAL CAMPAIGN FOR CHILDREN’S HEALTH INSURANCE

WASHINGTON— As debate over the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) shifts to the Senate, the Association for Community Affiliated Plans (ACAP) announced the launch of the “CHIP is US” digital campaign to mobilize grassroots support for adequate funding of children’s health care.

Visitors to http://www.CHIPisUS.org/ can learn about the positive impact CHIP has had in improving children’s health, and the serious long-term consequences if funding for the program is not soon restored. An online prompt allows website visitors to contact their elected officials by email, Twitter and Facebook, urging them to support CHIP legislation.

“The CHIP is US campaign makes clear the consequences of letting CHIP lapse,” said ACAP CEO Margaret A. Murray. “Unless Congress acts soon, states will be forced to curtail enrollment and health services for children. Protecting CHIP will provide the kind of fiscal stability that states need, and the health security that families deserve.”

CHIP is US is an extension of ACAP’s successful “Medicaid is US” campaign from this summer. “Medicaid is US” was a combined television, radio, digital and print advertising campaign which explained the drastic consequences Medicaid cuts would have on a broad cross-section of Americans. The campaign effectively generated over 40,000 letters to Congress in opposition to repeal of the Affordable Care Act.
