ACAP Honors Representative Leonard J. Lance with Congressional Leadership Award

ACAP HONORS REPRESENTATIVE LEONARD J. LANCE WITH
CONGRESSIONAL LEADERSHIP AWARD
WASHINGTON—Today, the Association for Community Affiliated Plans (ACAP) presented Representative Leonard J. Lance with its 2018 Congressional Leadership Award.
Having represented New Jersey’s 7th district since 2008, Congressman Lance currently sits on the powerful House Energy and Commerce Committee that has jurisdiction over Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP and public health programs.
In 2017, Mr. Lance voted against legislation that would have gutted health coverage for lower-income Americans through Medicaid and subsidized health insurance Marketplace coverage. He voted against the American Health Care Act, which would have disrupted funding for Medicaid and other crucial safety net programs. In addition, he voted against the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act because of the limits on the state and local tax deductive which was intended to incentivize cuts in state revenues, particularly revenues for Medicaid.

Murray. “Despite intense pressure, he voted to protect America’s most vulnerable populations who would have been devastated by the loss of Medicaid and Marketplace-based coverage. We are grateful for his commitment to protecting Medicaid and gladly show our appreciation today.”

This award recognizes commitment by policy makers to protect and strengthen programs vital to the health and well-being of vulnerable populations. The award was presented during ACAP’s annual CEO Summit.
