STATEMENT OF ACAP CEO MARGARET A. MURRAY ON PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION RESULTS
WASHINGTON— Margaret A. Murray, CEO of the Association for Community Affiliated Plans (ACAP), released the following statement on the results of the Presidential election.
“ACAP and Safety Net Health Plans stand ready to help President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris make Medicaid, Medicare and Marketplace coverage work better for the millions of Americans who rely on it.
“We are eager to work with an administration committed to strengthening the consumer protections of the Affordable Care Act and lowering the number of our fellow Americans who live without comprehensive health coverage.
“Medicaid is a lifeline for millions of Americans. We look forward to an administration that will help us protect and expand the safety net.
“Right now, millions of Americans are enrolling in coverage in the ACA marketplaces. Junk insurance plans threaten to deceive them, promising comprehensive and affordable coverage they will not provide when consumers need it. We welcome an administration that understands the danger junk insurance plans pose— especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, when the need for coverage is critical.
“We congratulate President-elect Biden on his victory and look forward to working with his administration to ensure Americans have access to high-quality, affordable, comprehensive health coverage and care.”
About ACAP:
ACAP represents 78 health plans, which collectively provide health coverage to more than 20 million people.
